Here at the Trust, we publish a wide variety of informative leaflets and trail guides covering numerous locations throughout the two counties.
The majority are walking trails that will occupy a few hours, but they vary in length from just a few hundred metres around a cathedral, to longer walking routes that will take most of a day and a few even longer trails that are best explored by car.
Some leaflets describe what can be found at a single site, while the longest trail of all is the nationally recognised long-distance footpath, The Geopark Way, details of which can be found here.
Our Explore trail guides
Our Explore trail guides take readers on a short, self-guided walk (or drive) explaining the geology along the way, and can take anything from one to five hours to complete.
Some trails are located in towns and explore the diverse uses of local rocks as building stones. Other trails take you out in the countryside and explore how and where the local rocks were formed and how they influence the nature of the landscape seen along the trail.
With more than 26 trails throughout the two counties, there’s plenty of choice for everyone.
Frome Valley Discovery guide
The Discovery guides is a larger, 24-page, A4 sized booklet that explores more deeply the geology and landscape of the Frome Valley in Herefordshire. It describes eight short walks at different points along the valley, which could be explored over a few successive days.
Publications associated with the Geopark Way
Geopark Way. Meandering its way for 109 miles through the Abberley and Malvern Hills Geopark from Bridgnorth to Gloucester, the trail passes through stunning countryside as it explores 700 million years of geological history. The route offers varied walking alongside rivers, through forests, along ridges and across valley floors; all with majestic views to match. Passing through an assortment of habitats there is a plethora of wildlife adding to the occasion. Quaint villages and towns dot the route bringing further elements of exploration and enchantment.
Champions Project publications
The Community Earth Heritage Champions Project published a large number of leaflets and informations boards, each relating to a specific geological site. They be viewed online by visiting the Champions Website which lists all of the sites covered by the project.
Three detailed and informative booklets were produced towards the end of the project (2011-2012), covering Champions sites in Bewdley, the Malvern Hills and the Lickey Hills. Each booklet details a route that can be followed to explore each area. These are also now freely available on the Champions Website.

Introduction to Discovery Guides
The Trust’s Discovery series of booklets now includes just one publication. This attractive 24-page guide to the Frome Valley has been well received by the public.
Geopark Way Associated Publications
The Geopark Way spans parts of four counties; Shropshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire in 17 easy to walk sections.
Community Earth Heritage Champions Project
As part of the site interpretation, three booklets were produced covering the Champions sites in Bewdley, the Lickey Hills and the Malvern Hills.
