Thursday September 26th, 2.00-5.00pm
Tour of Worcester Archive & The Hive
Come along and discover all of the wonderful resources available at The Hive. This session includes “behind the scenes” tour of the archives and will get you buzzing about the opportunities for research that will help bring together our wonderful buildings, the quarries they came from and the people who made them.

Thursday 10th October, 2.00-5.00pm
A Hive of Information
This afternoon session based at The Hive in Worcester will give you all the information you need to get started on your journey of discovery into our stone built heritage.
Where: The Hive, Worcester

Tuesday 15th October, 10.00-1.00pm
Intergenerational Learning
This half-day session is aimed at people who want to learn more about how we run outreach events and how to engage with the public, with particular emphasis on the rock and fossil roadshow activities we will be running during October half-term.
Where: Worcester City Museum and Art Gallery

Wednesday 16th October, 10.00-13.00pm
The Sensational Census
As well as tracing our relatives the census can tell us so much more about people. It can give us information on employment, the growth of villages and towns and hopefully tell us the history of a building through its many residents.

Where do I find it?
If you don’t know where to start with your building or quarry research then this session is for you. Come along and discover the joys of maps, or the unearth the lost secrets in minute books or the scandals in local newspapers and how this can help you discover the history of the buildings around us.

Introduction to Geology and Building Stones – Worcestershire
This whistle-stop session is going to give you the basics, to help you understand the 700million years of geological history that has shaped Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Designed for beginners to help them get to grips with the wonderful rocks that built our towns and villages.
Where: Bredon Norton Village Hall

Sunday 10th November, 10-4pm
Beginners Guide to fossils – Fossil Casting
This practical workshop is a chance to meet some of the fossils found around Herefordshire and Worcestershire, help you identify them when out and about and understand what life was like in the past. Weather permitting we will also try out some fossicking within Whitmans Hill quarry, for treasures to take home. There will also be a mass fossil casting session to replenish our fossil supplies after a busy summer of events.

A Beginners guide to Building Recording
Muddled by Mullions? Can’t tell your Ashlar from you attic? Then this half day practical session looking at historic buildings is for you. This beginners guide to Building Recording is Designed to give you an introduction to building styles and terminology with a hands on session on recording the beautiful Pershore Abbey.
