As this wonderful project draws to a close, we have had a busy few months bringing the final project outputs together.

Trail Guides

Our volunteers have been busy with trail testing for trails 6 and 8 during June and July. Trail 6, Around Bromsgrove and Tardebigge, is a cycle trail but includes a linear walking option. Trail 8, Illey Wilderness Trail, is a challenging trail for walkers. It includes some of our finest boulders, along with some beautiful countryside walking. These trails have now been completed and the leaflets received from the printers. All 8 free trail guides will be available at our event in August.

Events

We were delighted to attend Frankley Carnival in June and Bromsgrove Carnival in July. We ran children’s activities at Frankley Carnival and promoted Trail 5 and the Timeline Trail. Bromsgrove Carnival was our Trail 6 Launch.

We will be running a guided walk for Trail 8 – Illey Wilderness Trail – on Saturday, 12th August. This will start at Woodgate Valley Country Park at 10:30 a.m. For further details and booking information, please visit the Erratics Project website:  Events and Activities.

We will also hold our Trail 8 Launch on Saturday 12th August – Brilliant Boulders Fun Day at WVCP. This event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include badge making and pebble painting for children. Do join us if you can!

Boulder Cleaning

Graffiti was removed from boulders in Woodgate Valley Country Park and Balaam’s Wood in July.  Boulder and path clearance has also been completed in preparation for our next launch.

Guided Walks

We ran the first guided walk of Trail 8 in July. This was in conjunction with the BCGS, and was an excellent opportunity for some of our volunteers to become more familiar with this 5.5-mile-long trail.

Huge thanks, as always, to our wonderful volunteers for their fantastic work, and to Lottery Players for their support through the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
